Abstract
This article examines the pedagogical essence and development trends of freelance activity in the system of general secondary education. The content of freelance activity is analyzed as a modern form of professional employment oriented toward the digital economy and labor market demands. The relevance of developing freelance competencies among secondary school students based on competency-based and learner-centered approaches is substantiated.
