This article provides information on the general content, structure, and number of proverbs presented in Mahmud az-Zamakhshari's famous work “al-Mustaqsa ft al-amthal”. The book compiles widely known proverbs from ancient Arabic literature, analyzing their semantic and stylistic aspects. The article explores Zamakhshari s purpose in writing the work and the arrangement of proverbs into chapters. Additionally, it provides detailed information about the surviving manuscripts of “al-Mustaqsa ftal-amthal”.
