Annotaciya

The main purpose of this article is to study the cultural life and the development of hadith studies in India during the 19th-20th centuries, and to analyze the activity of the prominent Hanafi scholar of that period, Zafar Ahmadal-Tahhanawi (d. 1394/1974). The article also examines the scholarly schools in India and their interrelations, the contributions of the scholars from the “Darul Uloom ” school in Deoband to the science of hadith, and the high esteem in which they were held by scholars worldwide.
