THE BREAD-MAKING CULTURE OF THE UZBEK PEOPLE: HISTORICAL STAGES OF DEVELOPMENT AND TRADITIONS

This article examines the bread-making culture of the Uzbek people from a historical and ethnographic perspective. Particular attention is paid to the role of bread in everyday life, material culture, family rituals and traditional worldview. The study analyzes archaeological evidence related to grain cultivation and bread production, references to bread varieties in medieval written sources, regional bread traditions and the traditional use of the tandoor. The symbolic functions of bread in birth, cradle, circumcision, marriage, travel and other rituals are also examined. The research demonstrates that bread culture represents not merely a culinary practice but a complex cultural phenomenon connecting historical memory, traditional worldview, family education and social relations.
