This article examines the linguistic and pragmatic features of disease-related euphemismsand euphemistic phraseological units in Uzbek and English. The study analyzes soft and indirectexpressions used in medical and everyday discourse as a means of reducing negative connotations,considering the interlocutor’s emotional state, and maintaining ethical norms of communication. Inaddition, euphemisms related to disease names, states of illness, and mental or physical impairments arecomparatively analyzed, and their national-cultural characteristics are highlighted.
