CASE STUDY METHODOLOGY IN THE RESEARCH OF ACADEMIC WRITING CHALLENGES

Abstract

The article provides a theoretical justification for using the case study methodology to research academic writing barriers in the Kazakh language. Based on a literature review and the methodological frameworks of R. Yin and S. Merriam, the paper describes a qualitative research design aimed at identifying individual strategies of PhD students. Special emphasis is placed on data triangulation and the use of specialized software (NVivo/MAXQDA) for coding results. The findings of the pilot study demonstrate the prevalence of trans languaging strategies and highlight the needfor institutional support for doctoral students through specialized writing centers.
