TRENDS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF HIGH-TECH INDUSTRY UNDER THE CONDITIONS OF INNOVATIVE TRANSFORMATION OF UZBEKISTAN’S ECONOMY

The article examines trends in the development of high-technology industry in the Republic of Uzbekistan under the conditions of innovative economic transformation, considering the priorities of technological and innovative development outlined in the address of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sh. M. Mirziyoyev. The study analyzes structural changes in high- and medium-high-technology industries, as well as the dynamics of their contribution to gross domestic product, value added, and exports in 2020-2024. Particular attention is paid to the role of technological investment, research and development (R&D), and foreign direct investment as key factors in shaping an innovation-industrial growth model. Based on official statistical data and international analytical reports, the article identifies major sectoral and geographical shifts in the structure of high-technology production and exports. The findings indicate the formation of a mixed innovation-industrial model in Uzbekistan, characterized by the expansion of the high-technology sector alongside persistent limitations related to technological depth and the commercialization of innovations. The study substantiates the need for further improvement of mechanisms integrating science, investment, and industrial production in the context of the country’s strategic technological development objectives.
