Law, as one of the factors in strengthening civil society and the elements of its culture in the Greco-Roman world in ancient times, did not immediately mature and improve. At the first stages of its development, law in terms of the level of development of legal technology and basic institutions was similar to the legal system of Eastern countries. In Ancient Greece and Rome, the development of law was carried out within individual policies, and the level of development of democratic institutions in individual city-states was reflected in the law. The creation of the police system was the result of the creative activity of law and its gradual liberation from religious and mythological masks. Written legislation replaced unwritten customs. Thus, law became a set of authoritative and binding norms regulating the life of the polis in the ancient world. Accordingly, this article, based on the sources of this period, analyzes in detail the law of the countries of the ancient world.
