This article analyzes, on the basis of primary documents, how with the outbreak of the war the national economy across the Union was transferred to a wartime footing, the industrial enterprises that were relocated to Namangan region and their activities, as well as the rapid construction—through collective voluntary labor (hashar)—of the large Farhod Hydroelectric Power Station.
