This article analyzes, based on historical sources, the formation of the education system in the territory of Karakalpakstan in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries, the activities of traditional schools and madrasas, their role in spiritual and cultural life, as well as the processes of spreading the ideas of Jadidism. The article, drawing on archival documents, statistical data, and the scientific works of local historians, reveals the characteristics of the national enlightenment movement in Karakalpakstan.
