ANALYSIS OF THE EVOLUTION OF THE "RULE OF LAW" DOCTRINE

Аннотация
The Rule of Law is one of the foundational principles of modern legal systems and democratic societies. This concept implies that the actions of state authorities and officials must operate within the framework of the law, citizens' rights and freedoms must be guaranteed, and that principles of justice and equality should be paramount in society. However, this concept has undergone a long path of historical development and has been interpreted in different ways over various periods. In this article, we examine the evolution of the Rule of Law doctrine in Western legal science. Studying this process allows us to observe not only the development of legal thought but also the changing relationship between society and the state. Although the idea of the Rule of Law began to take shape in antiquity, it has traveled a long and complex—sometimes challenging—path before reaching its modern form. Along this journey, it was enriched, supplemented, changed, and reinterpreted by various philosophers, legal scholars, and political figures.
