THE IMPORTANCE OF THE WASHINGTON CONVENTION (CITES) IN THE LEGAL PROTECTION OF ENDENGERED WILD FAUNA AND FLORA

Abstract
This article examines issues of the legal protection of wild fauna and flora specias that are under the threat of extinction. It analyzes the significance of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of wild fauna and flora (CITES), the history of theConvention’s establishment, the requirements of CITES and the obligations imposed on the Parties to the Convention in the filed of international trade in such specias The article also discusses the activities of the administrative and scientific authorities of CITES in our country, provides information on the CITES Appendices and expresses views on the extent to which CITES requirements have been integrated and implemented into national legislation. In addition, the author puts forward proposals related to the subject matter.
