Аннотация
English law occupies a distinctive position among the world’s major legal traditions and, with the continued expansion of international trade and cross-border economic relations, its rules and institutions are increasingly being incorporated into the legal systems of other jurisdictions. This article examines the historical development of English law, its principal sources, and its contemporary significance in international commerce from a comparative legal perspective. Particular attention is given to the reception of English legal institutions in Singapore and Cyprus and to the legal and institutional conditions that have shaped these processes. The article further considers the potential application of selected English law institutions in Uzbekistan, the challenges associated with their adaptation to the national legal framework, and possible directions for their future development. It concludes that, rather than adopting English law as a comprehensive legal system, Uzbekistan would benefit from a selective approach focused on those institutions that correspond to its legal and economic needs.
