The present article is dedicated to the analysis of linguistic and extralinguistic peculiarities of business letters. The author of the article emphasizes that the following factors are important ones in achieving the goal of writing a business letter: relations between the sender and the receiver, their social status and gender. It is emphasized in the article, that business letters can be regarded as separate sub genre of speech act.
