Language and gender is an interdisciplinary field of research that studies varieties of speech (and, to a lesser extent, writing) in terms of gender, gender relations and gendered practices. It started developing swiftly after Robin Lakoff published her book “Language and Woman's Place” in 1975. There also such notable linguists as Candice West, Deborah Tannen and Susan Gal who contributed to reinforce gender linguistics progress further.
