Араб тилида сўзлар икки жинс, яъни музаккар ва муаннaс жинсларга бўлинади. Ҳар икки жинсни ажратиб турувчи морфологик кўрсаткичлар мавжуд бўлсада, баъзида улар ҳам сўзни қайси жинсдалигини ажратиб олишга ёрдам бера олмайди. Мазкур мақолада машҳур араб тилшунослари Аҳмад Қаббис, Антуан ад-Даҳдаҳ ва Ҳифни Носифларнинг жинс категориясига оид назарияларига тўхталиб, уларнинг фикрларини қиёсий таҳлил қилишга ҳаракат қилдик.
