The article deals with information about Ustrushna and Shash, considered the ancient cities of Movaraunnahr, given from the work of the historian Ahmad ibn Yahya al-Balozuri “Futukh al-buldon”, who lived in the 9th century. The information contained in the book was subjected to a comparative analysis and conclusions were drawn based on the work of early medieval historians and geographers. There is also information about research on the history of these cities.
