Abstract

The article analyzes the phenomenon of lexical and phraseological antonyms in the French language. In particular, it has been considered the features of units of opposite meaning inherent in the words of the language and phraseological units. Also it has been discussed the manifestations of the phenomenon of antonyms and their semantic meaning types in the French language. In particular, the article describes the methods of creating contradictory meanings by translating French phraseological units into Uzbek, the qualitative opposition of lexical antonyms by meaning, the development of phraseological antonyms. It is explained that phraseological antonyms are contrasted to lexical antonyms.
