THE PLACE OF TRAVEL BOOKS IN ENGLISH DRAMATURY OF THE RECONCILIATION AND RESTORATION PERIOD

Abstract
The article presents a step-by-step introduction of oriental themes into English literature. In the XVI-XVII centuries, the culture, life, customs and philosophy of the East became the subject of attention of Western travelers and researchers, as well as an occasion for studying the valuable masterpieces of our great ancestors. The article provides examples and opinions of researchers based on historical facts about the influence of the East on the West, the initial ideas of Europeans about the East and the themes of Orient both in the drama of the English Renaissance period and during the Restoration, especially in the works of John Dryden.
