INTERPRETATION OF ALLUVIAL PHRASES IN ENGLISH

Abstract
Our study analyzes phraseological units represented by a specific referent of a biblical, mythological, historical or literary nature in terms of their origin. In this study, based on the fact that the allusive phraseological units itself refers to a sociocultural phenomenon, the term “allusive phraseological units” is used in relation to this type of phraseological units. Accordingly, phraseological units that retain such references in their semantics are considered to be allusive in nature.
