TOLERANCE DURING THE EGYPTIAN MAMLUKS

This scientific article examines the perspectives of Western and Eastern Orientalists on the lifestyles of Jews and Christians during the rule of the Mamluk Sultans in Egypt, as well as explores the judicial and tax systems. The peculiarities of recruiting Mamluks, the differences from black slaves, and the presence among the Mamluks of not only Turkish but also European children, who were educated not only in military affairs at a military school but also received education in Arabic language and Islamic sciences, are discussed.
