Abstract

At the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries, representatives of the Christian religion began arriving in the territories of Turkestan conquered by Tsarist Russia. During this period, Orthodox churches were built and started functioning. The Orthodox were warmly received and supported by the local population, demonstrating a centuries-old tradition of tolerance. From 1865 to 1914, several churches were constructed and renovated in Turkestan.
