The aim of the research is to determine the peculiarities of virtual communication between communicants in the Internet used by communicants as a means of revealing the characteristic features of linguistic personality. The article focuses on the means of communication. The content of the concept of "communication" and "virtual communication" is defined, the moment of their origin is revealed, as well as their difference and originality. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the approach to the study of virtual communication from the point of view of its genre uniqueness. As a result, the connection with the forms of social interaction under the influence of communication technologies is determined.
