Abstract

This article examines the role of oral tradition in the formation of the manaqib genre. It considers how oral legends, legends and tales about Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) and his companions have influenced the development of this literary form. The distinctive characteristics of oral folk art, reflected in manaqibs, are analysed. It can be concluded that oral tradition played a pivotal role in the genesis of the manaqib genre, influencing its themes, style and poetic techniques.
