Аннотация

This article examines the theoretical foundations of the phenomenon of homonymy, its place in the language system, and its functional characteristics. It analyzes scholarly perspectives on homonymy in world linguistics, particularly interpretations within semantic, structuralist, and cognitive approaches. The manifestation of homonyms at lexical, grammatical, and syntactic levels is discussed through academic examples. The communicative significance of homonymy in speech and its role in the process of meaning comprehension are also substantiated.
