Abstract
Hector Malot and Theodore Dreiser combine naturalism, realism, and optimism in their works, characterizing heros shaped by social conditions and environment. Their realism reflects everyday struggles, while their naturalistic lens indicates how fate and circumstances influential outcomes. Despite harsh realities, an underlying optimism persists, as characters continue to strive for personal development and change.
