THE TRAVEL MOTIF AND THE CULT OF TIME ASSOCIATED WITH THE IMAGE OF AVAZKHAN IN THE VARIANTS OF THE EPIC “MALLA SAVDOGAR”

Аннотация
This article provides a scientific and theoretical analysis of the travel motif and the cult of time directly associated with the image of Avazkhan in various versions of the epic “Malla Savdogar”, which is considered one of the major examples of oral folk literature. The study identifies the functional role of the travel motif in the development of the plot, its significance in revealing the character of the protagonist, and its function as a key artistic device that drives the sequence of events. Furthermore, the article examines the mythological and epic interpretations of the concept of time in the epic variants, highlighting its ritual, symbolic, and ideological meanings. Based on scholarly sources in folklore studies and literary criticism, the notions of the travel motif and the cult of time are elucidated, and their interrelation as well as artistic and aesthetic significance are substantiated through the image of Avazkhan.
