This article presents the formation and development stages of the tradition of composing arba’in, as well as the lexical and terminological meanings of the word “arba’in”. The role of the arba’in genre in the development of Islamic literature and spiritual and enlightening thought is highlighted, and its inextricable connection with the science of hadith is revealed. Also, the tradition of using hadith and hadith content in classical Eastern literature, especially the artistic interpretation of hadiths and unique approaches to creating arba’in are studied using the works of Abdurahman Jami, Alisher Navoi, and Muhammad Fuzuli. The role of hadiths in expressing spiritual and moral content in their works, their artistic skills, are analyzed. In addition, based on the research of Ottoman Turkish scholars Mahmed Emre and Hasan Husnu Ardam, information is provided about the number of works belonging to the arba’in series, their authors, and the features of the development of the genre in different periods. The results of the study serve to shed light on the important place of the Arba’in tradition in the history of Eastern literature and Islamic enlightenment, as well as to provide a deeper understanding of the classical literary heritage. In addition, the study provides examples of Arba’in created in the modern era. Alisher Navoi's work “Arba’in” and the modern example of Arba’in created by Abdulla Oripov are analyzed comparatively, and the ideological and artistic features of both works are highlighted. The results of the study serve to provide a deeper understanding of the historical development of the Arba’in genre, its continuity in classical and modern literature, and its spiritual and educational significance.
