Abstract

This article discusses the emergence of the press in Uzbekistan, the reasons and needs for its appearance, its historical development, and its role in social life. It is substantiated that during the Tsarist colonial and Soviet periods, the press was transformed into a tool of political propaganda for the ruling regime
