MODERN CLASSIFICATIONS AND DIAGNOSTIC METHODS OF PARENTAL ATTACHMENT STYLES
Shomurodova, Maxsuma
Abstract
The article examines modern classifications of adult attachment styles (including parental attachment) and the main methods used for their assessment. Categorical and dimensional approaches are analyzed, and the most frequently applied tools are presented: Adult Attachment Interview (AAI), Experiences in Close Relationships (ECR/ECR-R), Relationship Scales Questionnaire (RSQ), Parental Attachment Questionnaire (PAQ), and others. Psychometric characteristics, strengths and weaknesses of each method, issues of cultural adaptation, and practical applicability in research and clinical contexts are discussed. Recommendations are provided for selecting the most appropriate tool depending on research or applied goals, as well as directions for future developments.
