THE IMPACT OF BANKS ON THE FINANCIAL STABILITY OF THE ECONOMY OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN

This article examines the phenomenon of systemically important banks (SIBs) in the financial sector of theRepublic of Uzbekistan. The criteria for identifying SIBs in accordance with the methodology of the Basel Committeeon Banking Supervision and the approaches of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan to determining the list ofsystemically important credit institutions are analysed. The mechanisms through which SIBs influence financial stabilityare investigated, including concentration risks, lending effects, and interbank contagion channels.
