Аннотация

This study examines the impact of tourism on UNESCO World Heritage Sites, focusing on the HistoricCentre of Samarkand – Crossroads of Cultures. Tourism has become a major contributor to local economic development, cultural promotion, and infrastructure improvement in Samarkand. However, rapid growth in visitor numbers has alsogenerated challenges related to overcrowding, environmental pressure, conservation issues, and community well-being.The research employs qualitative analysis based on secondary data, UNESCO reports, academic literature, and tourismstatistics. The findings indicate that while tourism contributes significantly to economic growth and heritage awareness, sustainable management strategies are necessary to mitigate negative impacts and preserve the Outstanding UniversalValue of the site. The study recommends strengthening visitor management, enhancing community participation, andimplementing sustainable tourism policies.
