BANK ASSET AND LIABILITY MANAGEMENT IN THE CONTEXT OF FINANCIAL SECTOR TRANSFORMATION

This article examines the theoretical and practical aspects of asset and liability management (ALM) in commercialbanks of the Republic of Uzbekistan as a basis for ensuring their long-term liquidity and financial stability. Therelevance of this topic is determined by the large-scale processes of privatization, digitalization, and market transformationof the banking system. Based on current statistical reporting for the period from June 1, 2025 to June 1, 2026,this paper conducts a comparative structural analysis of key balance sheet indicators. Particular attention is paid to thedecomposition of indicators for banks with state participation and private credit institutions. Asset coverage ratios, as wellas the loan portfolio to deposits ratio, are calculated. Key imbalances in the funding structure of state-owned banks areidentified, and the high market efficiency of private financial institutions is demonstrated. Using ratio and trend analysismethods, the need to implement flexible, integrated risk management systems to minimize interest rate and currencyrisks is substantiated. Based on the study’s results, scientifically sound practical recommendations have been formulatedaimed at diversifying funding sources, optimizing resource allocation, and enhancing the overall competitiveness of thenational banking sector.
