The Historical and Cultural Sites of Khiva and Their Role in Tourism Development

Uzbekistan's distinctive historical and cultural hub is Khiva, one of the oldest cities in Central Asia. Khiva, aUNESCO World Heritage Site, is home to exceptional examples of Islamic urban design and architecture. Using bothqualitative and quantitative research techniques, this article explores Khiva's historical and cultural sites and evaluatestheir contribution to the growth of tourism. The study assesses visitor numbers, tourist attitudes, economic effects, andissues with historic preservation. Surveys, interviews, and secondary statistical sources were used to gather data. Theresults show that Khiva's architectural legacy has a major impact on the expansion of cultural tourism, local jobs, andglobal awareness. But problems like infrastructural constraints and conservation demands still exist. Recommendationsfor sustainable tourism growth while maintaining Khiva's historical integrity are included in the study's conclusion.
