PARALINGUISTIC MEANS AND THEIR SOCIAL SIGNIFICANCE
Umarova, Lobar
Abstract
Paralinguistic means are communicative tools that accompany verbal elements of speech and serve to support, clarify, and extend the information conveyed through language. These means include intonation, timbre, pitch, pauses, speed of speech, word stress, as well as facial expressions, body movements, and other physical signals. Paralinguistic features play an important role not only in spoken discourse but also in various types of communicative processes, particularly in literary texts, fiction, and everyday interaction.
