TYPES OF EQUIVALENCE IN MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY TRANSLATION: FULL, PARTIAL, AND FUNCTIONAL EQUIVALENTS

The translation of medical terminology represents a significant linguistic andpractical challenge in the field of medicine, where terminological precision, semantic equivalence,and communicative clarity are considered essential criteria. This article provides a scholarlyanalysis of equivalence types encountered in the process of translating medical terms from Englishinto Uzbek, namely full, partial, and functional equivalence. The study is based on data drawnfrom international medical classifications, specialized dictionaries, and clinical texts, and employsa comparative approach to examine the semantic, morphological, and pragmatic features ofmedical terms. The findings indicate that functional and partial equivalents are widely used inUzbek medical terminology, which highlights the relevance of consistency and standardizationissues in medical translation
