DRIVING TOURISM INFRASTRUCTURE MODERNIZATION FOR SUSTAINABLE AND INCLUSIVE GROWTH: EXPRIENCE FROM CHINA

This study systematically analyzes the mechanism through which China promotes the modernization of tourism infrastructure to achieve sustainable and inclusive tourism development. Through a systematic analysis of China’s policy framework, investment strategy, digital transformation initiatives and rural revitalization plans, this study identifies key mechanisms for China to build a world-class tourism infrastructure system. the research method combines quantitative data analysis with qualitative case studies. The research results show that China’s approach combines government-led planning with market-driven investment, make full use of high-speed rail and smart tourism technology, and ensuring inclusive development through rural tourism and targeted poverty alleviation projects. In 2024, China’s domestic tourism market continued to expand. Infrastructure investment was positively associated with inbound tourism and international tourism revenue. This study, provides practical suggestions for developing countries seeking to learn from the Chinese model, including multi-stakeholder governance, phased infrastructure development, digital integration, and community-focused inclusive tourism strategies.
