ESG FACTORS AS A NEW DRIVER OF ATTRACTING FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT TO THE ECONOMY OF UZBEKISTAN

This article examines the specific features of attracting investments for the development of the green economy in the Republic of Uzbekistan within the framework of implementing sustainable development priorities and climate transformation. The purpose of the study is to identify the key financial and institutional factors determining the effectiveness of investment attraction to environmentally oriented projects. The methodological framework of the research is based on the methods of analysis, synthesis, comparative and systems approaches, as well as the review of analytical materials published by international organizations and the regulatory and legal documents of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The findings demonstrate that international financial institutions, public-private partnership mechanisms, green bonds, ESG investing, and other sustainable finance instruments play a crucial role in financing the green economy. The study also identifies the main constraints hindering the development of green finance, including the underdevelopment of the domestic capital market, limited participation of the private sector, and the insufficient adoption of ESG practices. The analysis shows that the implementation of investment projects in the renewable energy sector contributes to accelerating the green transformation of the economy and enhancing the country's investment attractiveness. Based on the research findings, practical recommendations are proposed to improve investment attraction mechanisms and promote the development of the sustainable finance market in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
