Nadirxanova, Nilufar
Abstract
The article presents theoretical and methodological foundations for developingstudents’ creative competence in applied arts through project-studio learning. Creativecompetence is defined as an integration of motivational-value, artistic-conceptual, divergentideational, technological-practical, reflective-evaluative and communicative-presentationalcomponents. A project cycle is proposed that involves studying national applied-art examples, identifying a problem, generating ideas, creating sketches and prototypes, experimenting withmaterials, studio critique, revision and public presentation. Authentic assignments, pedagogicalconditions, an analytic assessment rubric and a sample instructional module are developed
