COVID-19 ASSOCIATED CAVERNOUS SINUS THROMBOSIS. (CLINICAL CASE)

Аннотация
A clinical case from practice is described: a patient with COVID-19 associated cavernous sinus thrombosis. Cavernous sinus thrombosis (CST) is one of the most severe complications of coronavirus infection. The initial symptoms of cavernous sinus thrombosis are severe headaches or facial pains, which usually occur on only one side and are localized in the orbital and frontal regions. High fever is also common. Later, ophthalmoplegia, exophthalmos and eyelid edema develop, these manifestations are often noted on both sides. Sensitivity of the facial skin, swelling of the optic nerve disk and loss of vision may also decrease or disappear completely. Signs of CST progression are impaired consciousness, disorientation, seizures, and focal neurological symptoms. Thus, early, very rare CST often occurs in patients with COVID-19 infection, while there is a high mortality rate, which requires close attention to each patient in order to early detection of the disease with a thorough analysis of each case with the choice of the most optimal treatment method and the introduction of this groups of patients.
