Аннотация
Neurotransmitters and neurohormones play a crucial role in the complex pathophysiology of neurological disorders, including ischemic stroke. This review presents a comprehensive study of key neurotransmitters—glutamate, GABA, dopamine, and serotonin—and neurohormones— corticotropin-releasing factor, oxytocin, prolactin, and leptin—highlighting their distinct and interconnected roles in modulating neural activity, inflammation, and neuroprotection. Glutamate and GABA are explored for their opposing actions regarding excitotoxicity and signal transmission inhibition, while dopamine and serotonin are discussed as factors influencing the severity of ischemic stroke. Neurohormones corticotropin releasing factor, oxytocin, prolactin, and leptin are evaluated for their contributions to neuroprotection and inflammation. By synthesizing current №3 | 2024 research, this review aims to elucidate the complex role of these signaling molecules in brain injury and deepen our understanding of their involvement in the pathogenesis of ischemic stroke.
