Abstract
Consideration of comorbidity in stroke is important for predicting rehabilitation outcomes. The conducted statistical analysis of scientific work revealed a significant relationship between the severity of stroke (patient group) and the Charlson comorbidity index (CCI). The results highlight that patients with high CCI scores are more likely to be in more severe stroke groups. The correlation coefficient r = 0.92 (p < 0.001) indicates a very strong positive relationship: as CCI increases, the severity of stroke on the NIHSS scale increases, that is, the severity of stroke increases with increasing comorbidity. The CCI and NIHSS can be used together to stratify patients by risk and optimize treatment strategies.
