Abstract
Neuroinflammation plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of autism spectrum disorders (ASD), representing a complex process that includes the activation of immune cells in the brain, an imbalance of pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines, as well as disruption of the blood- brain barrier function. Studies show that increased production of interleukins such as IL-6, IL-10, and TNF-α is associated with changes in synaptic plasticity, neuronal hyperexcitability, and impaired neurogenesis processes, which may contribute to the development of the autistic phenotype.
