Abstract
Chronic neuropathic pain syndrome is one of the most complex and socially significant problems of modern medicine, affecting 6.9% to 10% of the adult population in developed countries. The pathophysiology of neuropathic pain is characterized by complex multi-level processes, including peripheral and central sensitization, neuroimmune interactions, and the disregulation of descending modulatory systems.
