Abstract
Lumbar intervertebral disc herniation is among the most common pathologies in modern neurosurgery, often associated with pain syndrome and neurological deficit, leading to a significant decline in patients’ quality of life. In this study, 60 patients underwent microdiscectomy, and its clinical effectiveness and safety were evaluated. Postoperative results demonstrated a significant reduction in pain and functional limitations, along with a high rate of neurological recovery. Complications were infrequent and mild in severity. Microdiscectomy remains the “gold standard” in the surgical treatment of lumbar disc herniation, although minimally invasive techniques also show clinically relevant advantages.
