THE IMPORTANCE OF STUDYING NEURONALLY SPECIFIC ENOLASE IN THE RESIDUAL PERIOD OF ISCHEMIC STROKE

Abstract
Neuronal-specific enolase (NSE) is one of the most informative biomarkers of neuron damage, the level of which reflects the severity of ischemic damage and the dynamics of recovery of brain tissue. In the acute period of stroke, an increase in NSE is closely related to the volume of the ischemic focus and the severity of the neurological deficit. However, it is equally important to study NSE in the residual period (1-3 months after a stroke), when the prognosis of recovery of motor and cognitive functions is formed, as well as the risk of adverse outcomes is determined.
