Abstract
This paper highlights the significance of the oxygenation index (OI) and oxygen saturation index (OSI) for assessing the severity of hypoxemia, parameters of respiratory support, selection of optimal PEEP (positive end-expiratory pressure), the role of high-frequency oscillatory ventilation (HFOV), as well as issues regarding fluid management and sedation control in children.
