CONFLICT RESOLUTION MECHANISMS WITHIN ASEAN AND SECURITY COMMUNITY

This article discusses the mechanisms of the ASEAN countries and the role of the Security Community in resolving regional conflicts in Southeast Asia. A unique method of “ASEAN Way” as a regional cooperation in solving the problems of Southeast Asian countries is analyzed. Conflict management mechanisms are also reflected in the seven core documents of the ASEAN. The article identifies the achievements and challenges of ASEAN in the process of conflict management. This paper revealed the contribution of the organization to the resolution of conflicts in Southeast Asia. The author analyzes the role of ASEAN in conflict management and presents that the organization does not participate as a third party in discussions between member states. It was concluded that the Security community consider the strengthening of mutual trust in the prevention of conflicts, reduction of tensions, prevention of conflicts between member states and the escalation of existing conflicts.
