Аннотация
The article analyzes the significance of reading culture as an integral system, its structuralelements, such as technology and subject of reading, from the point of view of various concepts. Inparticular, special attention is paid to the analysis of the interaction of the phenomenon of readingwith such social institutions as family, education, libraries. In addition, attention is paid to theconnection of reading with aspects of stratification in society. For example, the significance ofprofessional, regional and gender differences of a person is shown in the process of studying therelationship of reading with various layers of society: upper, middle and lower. In addition, thepsychological state of the individual in the process of reading, intellectual potential and cognitivefeatures in the perception of the text are considered.
