QUALITY OF EDUCATION THROUGH THE EYES OF STUDENTS: RESULTS OF SOCIOLOGICAL RESEARCH

The article provides various interpretations of the quality of education from the point of view of pedagogy, economics, sociology. The results of a sociological study of the attitude of students to the quality of higher professional education they receive are presented, on the basis of which two main components are derived: compliance of the activities of educational institutions with established norms (standards); the degree of compliance of the level of education and training of a specialist with his needs. Some modern approaches to measuring the quality of education are shown. The relevance of sociological methods, which make it possible to assess aspects of the functioning of the university as a social institution and determine the quality of education based on the opinion of its main consumers, is currently increasing in connection with the transition to new educational standards, providing for an increase in the volume of independent work and, therefore, an increase in the degree of responsibility of the students themselves for the results of their training. The data obtained make it possible to optimize the educational process of a higher professional educational institution.
